Can anyone tell me or does anyone have a
wiring diagram showing me how to wire my
driving lights so they are high beam switched, I'm a little confused by the earth switching!

This will get you out of trouble -

Select the Aus Spec Diagram - modified
wiring path. Maybe there is a kit already made but I used this one. If you're handy with a soldering iron and can understand
wiring diagrams and components - go for it.
With Toyota the switching is different - in simple terms it's always grounded and you connect to the positive. This information is for hiluxes and Cruisers.

Hi will21, if you have any knowledge of automotive
wiring then have a go at
wiring them yourself. You can use far better quality components for about the same price as a kit or what ever.
Even when buying
driving lights that have the wire loom provided, you will get better performance out of your lights by installing better
wiring.
Cheers.

I bought an ARB headlamp loom for my new Hilux, this is a plug in loom with no modification of the factory
wiring needed. This also provides a high beam relay output ready to be switched and fed to a driving light relay. However, I think this output is still "switched negative", so you need to adapt the driving light switch indicator to suit. I did draw out the schematic diagram of the loom before I installed it, which made it easier for me to understand how it worked.
I'm fitting my
driving lights this weekend.
(Hella Rallye 2000's, one pencil beam, one spread)
Regards,
Michael.

Off the top of my head,
Install the relay. From memory the coil terminals are labelled 85 and 86. One should be spliced into the middle wire of the group of 3 entering the headlight. The other needs to be threaded to a driving light switch inside the vehicle and then to a good earth.
Terminal 30 takes a fused wire from the battery pos; The opposite terminal (?87) goes to the
driving lights pos. Remember to have a good earth wire come back from the
driving lights to the battery neg.
Theres a diagram on the side of the relay that corrects my numbers if wrong.
With the Toyotas, the centre wire I mentioned is actually the high beam switch earth wire which will read about 11-12 volts when the high beam is on. The relays will work above 7 volts anyway. Only downside with this system is that the headlights must be operational for the
driving lights to work.
Again this is all off the top of my head - worth checking with a multimeter.
Cheers
Phil

UPGRADE the headlight
wiring loom - you will improve high beam as
well as low beam.
Driving lights won't improve your low beam lighting and will leave you in the dark when you have to dip your lights for oncoming traffic.
